Hiria Aorangi - Est. 2019
Stand in your mana with Hiria Aorangi – as seen in Vogue and Vanity Fair. Also, Exclusive Brand Partnership with British Vogue and Fashion Crossover London.
Our premium contemporary kākahu are made-to-order by Māori designer Hiria Aorangi in our Auckland atelier – and blessed by her pāpa.
We welcome you to learn about this taonga with us and celebrate the power and beauty of our culture.
Kia ora, I’m Hiria. I’m the founding owner, Māori fashion designer and māma of three. I’m on a journey to reclaim my culture through Korowaitanga.
I’ve always known that our culture is ātaahua (beautiful), and now Vogue does too. Our kākahu are designer-made and heirloom quality to pass down to your mokopuna (grandkids).
Our kākahu are made by me following Tikanga guidelines, with help from my whānau. And they have the blessing of my pāpa – the coolest kaumatua (elder) you’ll ever meet!
Every fibre of a korowai carries mana. It weaves together the support of your whānau, the twists and turns of your journey, and the beauty and power of Tikanga Māori (Māori practices).
When someone you love celebrates with a korowai, they carry the pride of their whānau on their shoulders. And that keeps them pushing for excellence.
Our contemporary designs hold space, command attention, and shine the spotlight on Māori excellence. Our tamariki (children) feel like superheroes when they wear Korowai! They stand tall and proud, with their whānau wrapped around them.
I’ve made us a safe space where we can learn together and connect with te ao Māori (the Māori worldview). This safe space is our Korowai. These contemporary kākahu designs are helping me connect with my culture, and I’d be so proud to help you on your journey too. Please tell me your story, and we’ll find our path together.
